Edible Kitchen Science
Edible Science Kitchen Lab is designed for grades 3-6 and will focus on edible experiments with materials normally found in the kitchen and home. Our projects will investigate the physics, chemistry, and biology of food. We will explore avtivities relating to concepts such as fermentation, emulsion, and crystallization, and most experiments will have ingredients to taste (optional!) or a final dish to serve and eat.
We will attempt to produce a recipe science journal at the end of the year with our favorite lessons.
My name is Carissa Parr and I have been teaching at CHSEL since 2017. I began homeschooling in 2004, and have just one more son to graduate. My hobby turned into a small side business of teaching art to elementary age children, which I find is a beautiful way to spend time. I also teach science classes, as well as grammar courses to the upper grades. In addition to being a part of CHSEL, I teach art at Eagle’s Nest After School Care, and I'm also the Children's Ministry Coordinator at Trinity United Methodist Church in Beaumont.
