Spanish Immersion/Story Dramatization (Blended Lab)

Lower Elementary Spanish Immersion/Story Dramatization (Blended Lab):

Pre-K to 2nd grade 

4 yo - 7 yo

These early years are the perfect time to start learning a second language and these little minds learn so well through storytelling and dramatization. This blended lab can provide a foundation for lifelong success and a love for reading and also Spanish!

So with blending Story Dramatization and Spanish Immersion together we will essentially use planned improvisation.

Students will use acting, tools, props, puppets, and skills to become the characters of and objects in the story, all while learning Spanish vocabulary and actually using it!

We will make role-play, skits, and dramatization a regular in our activities in our Spanish/Story classroom. It is a great way to bank on your students’ love for theatricals and language.  It’s also a great way to get kids out of their seats and speaking in Spanish and loving the stories and language!

We will act out and learn traditional “American” nursery rhymes in Spanish. We will also learn nursery rhymes, fables, poems, folklore, and stories from other Spanish speaking counties. There will be a great mix of both.

Here are a few examples of stories that we will have fun learning Spanish with and acting out:

-Los Tres Cochinitos  (The Three Little Pigs)

-Los Pollitos Dicen “Pio Pio Pio” ( The Chicks Say “Pio Pio Pio”)

-Caperucita Roja (Little Red Riding Hood)

-La oruga muy hambrienta (The Very Hungry Caterpillar)

- La tortuga y el conejo (The Tortoise and the Hare)

- El gallo sale a ver el mundo (Rooster's Off to See the World)

- Humpty Dumpty

- Ricitos de Oro y Los Tres Osos (Goldilocks and the Three Bears)

- La Gallina Turuleca (Mexico)

- La Llorona (Mexico)

- Un Elefante Se Balanceaba (Central America)

- La Llorona ( The Weeping Woman)

And there are many many more! Each story will take 1-3 weeks to study and really immerse ourselves in them! We will even plan times where the students can act out their stories for parents/guardians as in a play/drama typesetting!

A more detailed lesson plan will be provided on the first day of labs after our “Intro Day” lesson!

Teaching to proficiency, through Story Dramatization, will be a game-changer. Students handle real language much more confidently, have so much fun learning stories, and my lessons are based on communication and action.
