Volunteer with CHSEL

Who Can Volunteer?

To maintain a safe, supportive, and connected learning environment, CHSEL volunteer opportunities are available to:

  • Current Lighthouse members.

  • Individuals or families currently registered with CHSEL.

  • Family members and friends of current Lighthouse members or CHSEL registrants.

All CHSEL Volunteers are required to submit a background check. Not currently connected to Lighthouse or CHSEL? We appreciate your interest! Our volunteer program is designed to support the families and community already connected to our programs.  If you'd like to join click here!

There are so many ways to pour into our community.  Log-in to your CHSEL Account in order to sign up for any of the opportunities below:

Community & Connection

  • Be a Good Friend — Help foster friendship, inclusion, and a welcoming environment for CHSEL students and families.

  • Good Neighbor Committee — Support families welcoming new babies, experiencing family tragedies, needing benevolence assistance, or simply needing an extra set of hands.

  • Summer Circle — Keep our community connected through summer playdates, outings, and fun activities while classes are out of session.

  • Show & Share — Help organize our annual community gathering on the first Tuesday after the last day of CHSEL classes.

Parties & Special Events

  • Happy Birthday, Jesus! Christmas Party — Help plan, decorate, organize activities, and celebrate the Christmas season with our CHSEL community.

  • Back to Co-op: CHSEL Kickoff — Help welcome families at the beginning of the academic year with orientation, preparations, and activities to start the year off right.

  • End-of-Year Carnival — Help plan, organize, and host our carnival-style celebration on the last day of CHSEL, complete with games, activities, and family fun.

  • Event Planning & Support — Help coordinate, decorate, set up, and host events throughout the year.

  • Cleanup Crew — Join a cleanup team after CHSEL events, parties, and large community activities. Help with breakdown, trash collection, tidying spaces, and putting everything back in order.

Classes & Campus Support

  • Lunch Monitors — Help supervise students during lunch, encourage positive interactions, and keep lunchtime running smoothly.

  • Substitute Lab Facilitators — Step in when a lab facilitator is unavailable to help students stay engaged and keep scheduled activities on track.

  • Classroom & Lab Support — Assist teachers and students during classes, hands-on labs, and special activities.

  • Service Duties — Help coordinate and fulfill service assignments that keep our programs running smoothly.

  • Facility Support — Assist with campus organization, setup, maintenance, and general upkeep.

Behind-the-Scenes Support

  • Merchandise & Co-op Shop — Help manage merchandise, organize inventory, and keep our co-op shop running.

  • Library Support — Help keep our library organized and welcoming! Volunteers can sort and organize book donations, photograph items for online sales, help manage inventory, and assist with planning and hosting our annual book fair fundraiser.

  • Fundraising & Donations — Help organize fundraising efforts and connect our community with opportunities to support CHSEL.

  • Marketing & Communications — Assist with social media, photography, promotional materials, and spreading the word about CHSEL.

  • Share Your Talents — Have a special skill, hobby, or area of expertise? Lead a demonstration, share your knowledge, or introduce students to something new.
